or telephone: +44 (0)1865 883063 ASR Tundra Adventure - 2009We are deeply concerned that the economics of the traditional ASR helicopter fishing program is progressively becoming beyond the reach of the average fisherman or women many of whom may be old friends who would like to return. More importantly we want to welcome and encourage the younger generation to enjoy the ASR experience and strengthen the future of our chosen sport. Accordingly we have devised some four exciting and flexible new programs which, by the minimum use of helicopters and less luxurious living, will enable us to reduce the prices substantially and make available what to many will be a more adventurous and interesting ASR experience. Although the primary emphasis will be on our famous multiple sea winter salmon fishing there will be facilities and opportunities for fishing wild brown trout, sea trout and char. Helicopter transportation will be kept to a minimum transferring guests between the lodges and various tent camps for three day periods in groups of three to one guide. For the 2009 season the traditional helicopter programs will be replaced by the Tundra Adventure programs for the following four (4) weeks: Week 35 starting 22nd Aug Week 36 starting 29th Aug Week 37 starting 5th Sept The Kharlovka/LitzaHere we will have six groups of three anglers with one guide designated for each group. After bussing from MMK on the Saturday morning to the halfway point, all guests will be transported by helicopter into the Kharlovka camp for a briefing before deploying nine guests (half the team) over to an upgraded Litza tent camp. Each river will be divided into three fishing sections (Upper, Middle and Lower). Guests will walk the reindeer trails, pacing themselves on foot to access their fishing. When on the Lower zones of both rivers, there may be the option to stay the night at the estuary Military camps in order to take advantage of the late evening Sea Trout possibilities. On the Tuesday afternoon, an MI-8 helicopter will arrive to switch the Litza / Kharlovka guests over providing everyone with three days on each of our world class rivers. Price: $5,500 per rod for the holiday starting in Murmansk. For maps of the main salmon pools click on: http://www.kharlovka.com/kharlovkamap.html http://www.kharlovka.com/easternlitzamap.html The Upper KharlovkaHere there will be two groups of three anglers with two guides. After bussing from MMK to the halfway point, guests will be transported by helicopter all the way up on the tundra to the Nicu beat of the Upper Kharlovka – located some 36 km upriver from the Barents Sea. Accommodations will include one large (20sq.meters) kerosene heated tent with six beds and sleeping bags. In addition to one chef plus a ‘camp helper’, there will be another large tent of equal size that will be used as the dinning/mess quarters. Anglers will have more than 8kms kilometres of fantastic big Salmon and Brown Trout water to explore in both directions from camp. On the Tuesday afternoon, an MI-8 will arrive to transport the six anglers, plus staff, 23km down river to Kharlovka National Park camp. The Kharlovka National Park camp will be arranged in a similar fashion to the Nicu Camp. Here anglers will enjoy the most prolific of our upper river big salmon beats as well as fantastic brown trout possibilities including our carefully managed Kufshen creek that can provide super results when the conditions are right. The Twin Junctions creeks as well as the Middle Kharlovka canyon are closed to fishing. Price: $3,750 per rod for the holiday starting in Murmansk. For a map of the Upper Kharlovka click on:
The Rynda![]() The Upper Rynda Fishery - click on map to enlarge There will be two fishing zones divided by the power line. Each zone will be fished by two groups of three rods/guide for three days with a change over by MI-8 helicopter on Tuesday afternoon. The lower river party will be based at Rynda Lodge and the upper party at a newly created tent camp at 3rd Waterfall. After bussing from MMK to the halfway point on the Saturday, all guests will be transported by helicopter to the Rynda Lodge for a briefing before the upper group is deployed by helicopter. At 3rd Waterfall there will be a newly constructed quality tent camp that will include two (15sq.meters) kerosene heated tents with three folding beds and sleeping bags. There will be second large (20sq.meters) tent that will be used as the dinning quarters/mess. The camp staff will include a chef and helper. There will be a jet boat available to access the wonderful char and brown trout possibilities in and around the Lake Rynda system which is 10 kilometres in length. At the top of this lake there are serious autumn salmon fishing opportunities not to speak of the traditional Rynda trout fishery beyond. On the Tuesday afternoon, an MI-8 will arrive to switch the Rynda lodge and 3rd Waterfall camps over for the second half of the week. Price: $4,750 per rod for the holiday starting in Murmansk. The Zolotaya Program![]() The Zolotaya River system - click on map to enlarge The famous Zolotaya River and Tent Camp system will be made available for a full week to 4 rods known to each other and who are agreed on the nomination of a Group Leader. It will be a unique opportunity to have all the benefits and freedom of an entire river system at your disposal. After bussing out of MMK to the halfway point, guests will be transported by helicopter directly into the delightful Zolotaya tent camp. Here, they will be looked after by one very fit guide – plus Misha and a ‘camp helper’. There will also be a powered Zodiac boat available on the lake system above Peter’s Pool to access the Zolotaya Salmon and Brown Trout fishing around the power line area. From there it is a 2 kilometre walk to Lake Kikki where there would be another Zodiac to enjoy both Wild Brown Trout and more specially Arctic Char. Price: $4,500 per rod for the holiday starting in Murmansk. TravelAll guests will need to make there own way from their home destination to Murmansk on Friday. Similarly they would have to make arrangements for their return journey the following Saturday or Sunday according to flight availability. The following website provides details of all domestic and international flights to and from MMK: http://www.avia.murman.ru/index-eng.shtml. Guests will also need to make their own arrangements to stay one night at the Meridian Hotel or the Friday of their arrival. Unless they were able to catch a flight out the following Saturday they would probably need to reserve a room for the Sunday night. This is easily done by “googling” a variety of websites for Meridian, Murmansk. Transfer between MMK Airport and Meridian HotelProvided you let us know your flight details and had a confirmed booking with the Meridian we would arrange meeting and transfer both ways in a hospitality bus. Kit and GearIn addition to normal fishing equipment and clothes you will need to consider a proper backpack – with space enough to carry all ones daily fishing gear – extra warm clothes plus occasionally a day or even night ration of food, a night torch or head lamp, warm autumn clothing – including under layers - hats and gloves - sunscreens and mozy protection. General InformationThroughout the programs there will be an MI-2 helicopter on standby based at Rynda Lodge together with a qualified doctor who maintains a well equipped surgery. These facilities are available at any authorized flying time. All camp locations must have radio equipment to contact both Rynda & Kharlovka lodge and this equipment must be tested on arrival at new camp sites. Guests are reminded they are responsible for all emergency medical costs and will have undertaken to take out adequate medical insurance. From time to time it may be permitted to hire the MI-2 for private excursions. However it should be noted we would have to charge in the 2009 season as much as US$2400/flying hour. The recommended tip for guides is $250/rod and $250/rod for the general Russian staff pool.
